And so, the never ending process of building is still continuing.
Week 34 - did our walk through and pointed out things that need to be fixed. Extremely unhappy with the paintwork as it looks like a five year old picked up a paint brush and painted everything carelessly. Our list was the below
1. Benchtop Markings need to be buffed.
2. Bottom of the doors need to be sanded and painted.
3. All blue taped areas need to be puttied and painted or sanded and painted.
4. Final clean needs to be done
5. Tile near the stairwell needs to be fixed.
6. Tiles in the main bathroom window sill needs to be laid.
Luckily, it was nothing structural and all cosmetic stuff that needed to be fixed. Anyways, our SS said that he would have the painters back to fix all the touch ups. (this was the day after our walk through). So we decided to head over to the house after the painter had finished and check it out. Needless to say - highly disappointed again. Walked in and looked up at the ceiling to find a huge blister mark in the paint near the down light. Anyways, I don't want to start because then I won't stop.
There has been other things that have been completed on site:
1. Gas installation.
2. Air-conditioning unit installed.
Our driveway is still to be poured - is actually due to be poured today however, they stuffed this up also. It was meant to be a double car driveway and they had only formed it up for a single. Over the weekend when we went to visit, it was still single so I hope they don't stuff it up and pour as the framework is now. They should have gone there to form up before the concreter goes there today but hey, I am not a tradie what do I know right......
SIGH feels like this is never ending and that we will never be getting our keys.
Oh and as per usual, post our walk through, they were quick to send the invoice!
Won't be paying until I am completely happy with the work done on the house, end of story.
Apparently, we are set to have handover on the 24th.. but like I said, I won't be accepting until all my problems with the place are put to rest.

Shopping: Washer/Dryer, TV and Microwave
So, this weekend hubby and I went out shopping for a fridge. Unfortunately we bought many other things besides the fridge. Isn't that just always the case?
All things were from Bing Lee as they have good prices and warranties. They also had a promotion with a gift card which ended Sunday so we spent hours upon hours reading reviews of different things and finally came to an agreement and bought everything (besides the fridge we went out for) all in one go.
Below are our selections:
Electrolux Washer/Dryer
EWW14013
Price: $1,470.00
Now I know there's so much stigma that is applied to the washer/dryer combos however I really think after reading some reviews online that it could potentially be the best washer we have had as long as we know how to use it with its proper functions. We got an added 4 Year Warranty for this machine at $199.00
The next Item I'd like to talk about is the TV we purchased.
We didn't want a MASSIVE TV, so we went with a 65" LG Super UHD HDR Smart TV.
Model: 65UK7550PTA
Price: $2595.00
Added 4 Year Warranty $319.00
and now our microwave. This was a whim purchase as we weren't planning to purchase a microwave however it was done because we needed a new one. This is a LG 25L S/S Smart inverter 1100W
Model: MS2596OS
Price: $199.00
Added 2 Year Warranty: $30.00

I think considering all that we got, we got an okay price but probably splurged a little on the washer/dryer.
Now all that is left is to purchase a fridge... which was our original intent this weekend.

Beacon Lighting Update
So, on my last post I stated that we had chose our lighting. I decided to upload some photos of what we had chosen just so I can look back at these posts when it is all done and remember all the steps it took to get there!
Firstly, our dining room will have three pendants all the same on a white bar from Beacon as per below.
There will be the below pendants hanging on this bar all the same length.
Light for the stairwell:
All the bulbs will be the same as the below as we wanted to keep it uniform and structured.
Next is our alfresco light/fan :)
I am so excited to see all our selections come together!
Not long to go now for us and it is just so hard to concentrate on anything else when I know that we could be moving so soon. I have a little bit of anxiety packing all my stuff though I must say. Especially all my products and makeup - eeeeeeeeeek.

Week 26: Kitchen Benchtop's & Bathroom Wall Tiles
I know I just gave an update for end of week 25 however, hubby was on site today to check on the build and sent me these photos which practically almost stopped my heart from excitement.
Monday - we have had the wall tiles started, kitchen bench tops went in AND PAINTING HAS STARTED!
One more bit of good news is that hubby spoke to the tiler today and he gave us an insight and said the main floor tiles are due to be laid in 2 weeks along with the carpet after all the inside finishing are done! Does this mean they are going to push to have all the mirrors all the screens. all the everything else done by two weeks? What?! Lets hope this is the case cause I just really need to be in my new home!
Its really starting to look like a home now and I am beyond excited.

Week 24: Update from SS
Hi guys!
So hubby spoke to our SS yesterday and he said there is going to be a lot of progress done on the house within the next two weeks.
- Kitchen delivery & Installation.
- Bathroom Vanities delivery & Installation.
- Electrical cut outs.
- Doors to be fitted.
- Architraves to go on.
- Tiling begins most likely towards end of week 25.
How exciting!
I am pretty happy with this given that we have had so many weeks with no one on site, I feel like hopefully this will make up for it (if the tradies show up and do the work).
However, there is still so much to be done by us!
- We still need to choose our blinds/shutters.
- Still to choose our lighting.
- Still to purchase a new Fridge.
- Still to purchase a Washing machine.
- Still to purchase a dryer.
- Still to purchase my own ikea wardrobe!
The things we need to do before we move in are quite critical to me as we have a puppy and the fences need to be installed and there needs to be grass before we can move. I'm starting to fear that we won't have time as hubby works most weekends and cant really work on the house. Might need to ask some family members for some help.
How far am I in my packing stage? haha do not ask. So far all I've done is clear out my wardrobe of old a dingy clothes and clothes that I practically didnt wear.
Next steps for me would be to:
- Clean out my shelves!
- Pack my paintings and frames that we are not using.
- Go through my products (hair etc).
HOPING we have six weeks to go, I need to get my sh*t sorted. Eek.

Week 23: WE HAVE STAIRS!
Can I get a hallelujah!
It is about time that we got our stairs!
Decided to do a drive by to the house on Sunday last week as our SS did not call us for an update. Went there and found that they had installed our stairs. Walkeda round the home as per usual to see if there was anything else that was different and they had made little cuts inside the gyprock as to where they would cut out the circles for the light fixtures.
Our doors were also delivered! So, without speaking to our SS I am going to ASSUME that the doors should be going on this week, and the electrical cut outs should be happening also.
Di Lorenzo had notified us to let us know that the tiles we chose for our bathroom were out of stock which was a great big bummer but we got over it and chose new ones. The lady who served me at Di Lorenzo also told me that our site was released for tiling mid July which I am hoping by then we will have our kitchen and bathroom deliveries.
It's getting close now and I can taste it!
Really just want to move innnnnnnn

Update
Spoke to our SS yesterday and now we have a comprehensive list of what is booked in for when - so we are hoping we can stick to this. The SS also mentioned that PCI will most likely be mid to late August.
Forecast:
Week 18: Cladding to be completed
Week 19: Electrical Wiring Rough in
Week 20: Gyprock
Week 21: Stairs
Then I am assuming we will hopefully be at lockup stage..
On the other hand, today I was going through furniture websites for 'fun' and I came across a great deal for a pair of sofas that I really liked! They offered to do 20% deposit for a forward order so they can order this when its time to move in to our brand new home!
Fingers crossed all goes well for us and we can be at lockup stage by mid June.
AND fingers crossed time will go by quickly so I wont have to think about it much longer.

Week 11: Fascia & Gutter
This week was a bit slow as the fascia and gutter went in, no photos as I have been super busy with work and my own business that there have literally been no time between then and now for me to visit the block! Next week the roof should be going on. Yay!

Week 10: Second Story Brickwork Completed
Hubby went to complete the second story brickwork this week and it looks so great!
Week 11 will be the completion of the eaves, cladding and roof. We are hoping the roof will be going on by the end of the week.
Scaffolding is scheduled to come down end of April so all things upstairs need to be completed before then.

Week 9: Scaffolding and some extra pics
So, this weekend on our visit, we saw that the scaffolding was up and ready for hubby for Monday morning to brick up the second story. Roofing is also booked in for Tuesday after the Easter Long Weekend. Kinda in love with the new place already even though it is no where near finished. This is so exciting and I just cant wait until it is complete!

Week 8.1: Bricking Begins!
So this afternoon was a great afternoon despite it being so gloomy throughout the day.
Hubby was on site today to brick up!
He sent me some snaps this afternoon that I was so happy to see!
Once the brickwork is done and the roof is on, it will definitely start to look more like a house!

Week 7: Upstairs & Roof Framing
This week, upstairs and roof framing was complete!
Didn't get a chance to take any photo's as I was super excited when I got the the site that I forgot my phone in the car! Then once I jumped back into the car it got dark so there was really no point.
Been so busy at work lately that I haven't had much time to concentrate on what has been happening with the build. This week, the brickies (my hubby) will be on site to start bricking up. He has been so excited and actually can't wait to start!
I really cannot wait until this section of the build is done so we can move on to the next quickly and smoothly. The only worry I have now is the internal finishings taking forever. I know we still have a while until we get to that stage in the build but everyone I have asked says it takes such a long time to get everything done.
I would literally go there and help as much as I could every weekend if they allowed it!
Looking forward to getting the house finished as quickly as possible as the place we are currently staying at is really getting on my nerves. Cant wait to move to the new area and start fresh.
I have also been looking at some furniture to slowly start purchasing before moving in so our house is not totally empty and everything is just super expensive so I have been putting it off and just trying to save the money so hopefully once we do finish, we can have some money to spend on furnishing the place.
Until my next post, lets hope I can save some money from the next pay day haha!

Week 5: Firewall between Granny Flat & Main Dwelling
This Monday was a good day for hubby and I as hubby was contacted by our SS to start on the firewall between the main dwelling and the granny flat (hubby is a bricklayer).
So, he smashes that out all under a day and sent me these progress photos as an update. SS said the frames should be delivered next Monday although we were both under the impression that it was going to be delivered this week. As long as they deliver and start on site with the frame next week, I am happy.
Hubby is booked in to brick up mid March so hopefully, the carpenters will be done by then and hoping that the weather holds up for our sake.

Week 4: Drainage
It was a slow week this week with only drainage done on site. Sand was also delivered for the double brick wall going between the main dwelling and Granny flat.
Its shaping up very slowly. Cant wait to see it with a frame this coming week!

Week 3: We have a slab!
Finally after months and months of preparation and agony in all those selection meetings and wasted time in Admin, I am happy to announce we finally have a slab!
Things are moving swiftly and hopefully they stay moving swiftly so we can get this place finished sooner rather than later. I am SO happy that there is finally progress that it is almost a surreal feeling for me.
